Sawan Festival Celebrated at RKMV Dated: 26th August 2026
Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, brought the vibrant spirit of the monsoon alive with a colorful celebration of the Saawan Festival, organized by the Women Cell of the college.
The festival began with an invocation to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and followed by various cultural performances, including Shiv Stuti and Garba, by the students of Dance Department of the college- adding colour and vibrancy to the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena reflected on the deeper significance of Teej festival and Saawan Celebrations. It is an expression of our rich cultural heritage, womanhood and harmony with nature. She emphasized that these traditions not only provide us an opportunity to reaffirm the values of gender equality, women empowerment and environmental consciousness, but also encourage young people to embrace a healthy, responsible and drugs free lifestyle thus contributing towards building a drug-free society.
The highlight of the event was the Mehendi Competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from 42 students. The competition was judged by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena, IQAC Coordinator Kartik M. Chauhan, and Major Dr. Laxmi Associate Professor from the Department of Music.
Preeti (BCA) secured first place. Parul (B.Voc) stood second, while Swati (BA 2nd Year), Varsha (BA 3rd Year), and Reena (MA 1st Year) shared third place.
Around 2,500 students joined the fun-filled celebration, making it a vibrant occasion to reconnect with tradition, nature and the spirit of togetherness.
