Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidhyalaya , the prestigious women institution has 02 NSS units in which more than 400 volunteers enroll themselves every year to practice and experience best of social activities for the welfare of our society.

On 24th September, 1969, National Service Scheme was launched on the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. NSS helps students to perform various duties essential for the welfare of the society and ultimately the nation.

Our NSS units work in collaboration with the State departments and contribute their participation in the state and central social schemes and initiatives such as Van Mahotsav, Kargil Vijay Diwas, Poshan Saptah, Swatchha Abhiyan, etc. We also conduct seminars on the special issues such as Women Safety and Security, Women Empowerment, Menstruation Hygiene and Sanitation (in collaboration with Prayas NGO), Personality Development, etc.

Namita Thakur, Student of Bsc III, RKMV and NSS Volunteer represented HP in "Paying Homage to our National Leaders" on thier Birth Anniversary in the Parliament House on 23rd January 2023. She got the opportunity to interact with the honourable Chairman of Lok Sabha, Sh. Om Birla Ji and Sh. Anurag Thakur, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

RKMV in collaboration with ASER Pratham organized three day training program followed by two day field Survey for NSS Volunteers from 16th to 20th November in remote areas of district Shimla. The survey was contucted to provide a reliable annual estimate of the overall output of school children on the basis of their learning, analyzing and retaining levels. Survey was conducted in 14 vilaages of Shimla District in which 28 volunteers took part.

An MOU was signed between RKMV and Pratham Education Foundation ( NGO), New Delhi on 29th Deceber 2022 for ASER.
