The inception of Department of Computer Application in Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalya (RKMV), Shimla took place in the year 2013 with the prime objective of facilitating the female students with the finest education in the domain of Computer Science. The department offers best IT infrastructure with dedicated internet facility to its students to cope with the fast changing demands of IT industry. The department focuses on deliberating high standards of digital education to produce self-assured experts. Students are well equipped with the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subjects. The department offers B.Sc. Computer Science for students with non-medical background. Apart from the main stream course the department also offers two General Elective Courses for the B.A. 3rd year students.

Department Specific Courses Outcome:

After the completion of 3 years degree the student must be able to:

    • Recognize & appreciate the role of computing in a wide variety of activities & application of modern society, including commerce, education, communication.
    • Analyze a given problem and develop an algorithm to solve the problem.
    • Identify problems and formulate solutions for systems and organizations while reconciling conflicting objectives and finding compromises.
    • Demonstrate the basic technicalities of creating word document, creating power point presentation, design spreadsheet for office use.
    • Able to master the basic concept and understand the database management system.
    • Evaluate and analyze the SDLC, understand software design, coding techniques and software testing principle.
    • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
    •Work effectively as part of a team to develop and deliver quality software artifacts.
    •Design solutions using approaches that integrate ethical, social, legal, and economic responsibilities.
    •Recognize the applicability of computing and evaluate its impact on individuals, organizations, and global society.
    •Evaluate and use appropriate methods and professional standards in computing practice.
    • Explore historical, current, and emerging techniques and technologies, founded on a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
    • Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program's discipline.
    • Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
