From the academic session 2016-17, H.P. University has adopted the UGC framework of
curriculum under CBCS to ensure uniformity in the standards of higher education and to
provide the students quality education at par with the best in India. The CBCS provides
an opportunity for the students to choose subjects from the prescribed courses
comprising Core, Elective and Skill based. In this system the courses are evaluated
following a grading system, which is considered to be better than the conventional
marking system. The uniform grading system in the entire higher education sector in
India will benefit the students to move across institutions both within India and
outside. The uniform grading system will also enable potential employers in assessing
