On the occasion of International Youth Day on August 12, 2026, the Youth United Against HIV and Drugs program was organized at Hotel Peterhof, Shimla, under the joint auspices of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Himachal Pradesh and the Himachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Committee.
The program featured the Chief Guest, Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Dhaniram Shandil, and the Guest of Honor, Dr. Harish Janarth, the Urban MLA of Shimla. The event was attended by 200 students from the NCC, NSS, Rangers & Rovers, and Red Ribbon Club of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla. The students participated enthusiastically, using rangoli, tile painting, umbrella painting, and poster making to highlight the adverse effects of drugs and to encourage youth to stay away from drugs and remain aware of HIV/AIDS.
The creative presentations and disciplined participation of the students made the program particularly attractive and spread a positive message of an addiction-free society and awareness about HIV/AIDS. The students of RKMV presented an excellent example of youth power, social awareness, leadership, and responsibility through their active participation
