“Elara”: Celebrating New Beginning, Talent and Dreams 13th August 2026
Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, celebrated Elara; Freshers Party on 13th August 2026, in an atmosphere filled with excitement, enthusiasm and youthful spirit.
The name Elara symbolises brightness, beauty and a new beginning, reflecting the spirit of the freshers as they embark on an exciting journey of learning, growth and self-discovery.
The programme was graced by Ms.Rupali Thakur (IAS), Director of Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration as the Chief Guest. Her presence inspired the young girls to dream big and strive for excellence.
The programme commenced with the formal welcome of the Chief Guest by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena and her address to the gathering. The Principal warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and the freshers, setting the tone for a vibrant celebration of talent, culture and confidence.
The main attractions of the programme were the modelling session and the vibrant cultural presentations, which captivated the audience and created a spellbinding atmosphere.
The modelling session featured four dynamic rounds –Glittering Stars, Dancing Divas, Talent Round and Q/A Round, showcasing the participants’ elegance, creativity and confidence. The panel of judges for the modelling session comprised:

Vanshita was crowned Miss Fresher 2026
Akshara and Onas were adjudged First and Second Runners-Up respectively
Chavi bagged the title of Miss Talented
Deepali was declared Miss Confident
The cultural segment beautifully showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India. Various performances(Kashmiri Dance, South Indian Dance,Bollywood ,Uttrakhand Dance,Lavani,Punjabi, Harayanvi Dance, Retro,Dandiya, Nati and song performances) - thoughtfully choreographed and presented by the Department of Dance and Music, brought alive the vibrant traditions of different regions of the country. The cultural presentations culminated in a stirring Desh Bhakti performance ;Maa Tujhe Salaam;, filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest appreciated the Principal's efforts in bringing positive changes and improvements to the institution. She also sensitized young girls about the dangers of drug abuse and cybercrime. She motivated the young girls to believe in themselves and reminded them that they are ; here to conquer the world.
The celebration was a beautiful blend of culture, confidence, talent and youthful energy, creating cherished memories for the freshers as they began their new chapter at RKMV Shimla.
